After initially focusing on water well drilling, the company has since broadened services to incorporate a range of drilling services, including exploration drilling. Based in South Africa, Hillson Drilling has the capacity to operate throughout Africa. Contracts have been fulfilled throughout Southern Africa, including Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Hillson Drilling strives to be a competent, versatile contractor with a focus on integrity and transparency, as well as human safety and environmental responsibility. The experienced drilling team consists of qualified drillers, rod handlers, HSE Officers, first aid providers, mechanics and borehole technicians. All personnel are highly trained and competent. Drillers are kept abreast of the latest technologies through attending courses such as those run by the Atlas Copco Academy. Hillson Drilling is committed to adhere to a high level of HSE standards.
After acquiring his qualification as a Civil Engineer, David Hill worked for Murray and Roberts on various mining sites in Southern Africa from 1977 to 1981. Together with his father, David purchased his first drilling rig and established Hillson Drilling in 1981.
